Chef & owner, James Domino

In 1952, James’s grandmother, Mary DeBonis, began working at what was originally named, Rocco’s Pioneer Italian American Restaurant. Mary was notorious for her handmade pizzas.

Mary would work upstairs behind the steam table during dinner service from 5-9PM and help the owner Rocco and his wife cook homemade Italian meals. At 9PM she went downstairs to begin making pizzas.

In 1965 Jame’s parents Al and Angela Domino bought Rocco’s Pioneer and worked there with Angela’s mother Mary. They decided to keep the name Rocco’s Pioneer because Angela’s father was also named Rocco.
